How To Watch Taylor Swift’s ‘Betty’ Performance At The Academy of Country Music Awards
Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform at the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards. On Sunday, The Academy of Country Music, Dick Clark Productions, and CBS confirmed the big news, which will mark the “Folklore” artist’s first performance in seven years.
The 2020 ACM Awards will be broadcast on TV on Wednesday, Sept. 16 on CBS at 8 p.m. EDT. The show will also be available to live stream and on-demand on CBS All Access.
When Swift hits the stage, she is expected to perform her hit song “Betty.” In August, Swift introduced “Betty” on country radio and revealed that she named the song after Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ third daughter.
“I named all the characters in this story after my friends’ kids... and I hope you like it!” Swift said at the time.
The singer explained that the particular song told a story from a different perspective.
“[James] has lost the love of his life basically and doesn’t understand how to get it back. I think we all have these situations in our lives where we learn to really, really give a heartfelt apology for the first time,” she said.
“Everybody makes mistakes, everybody really messes up sometimes and this is a song that I wrote from the perspective of a 17-year-old boy.”
Swift added, “I’ve always loved that in music you can kinda slip into different identities and you can sing from other people’s perspectives. So that’s what I did on this one.”
The five-time ACM Award winner will perform live from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, one of several famous music venues hosting the awards show. She made her debut at the historical landmark in 2006 when she was 16 years old.
The 2020 ACM Awards will air Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
