HTC is believed to be preparing a new mid-range Android phone codenamed “Imagine Life” and most of its specs have been leaked online. The upcoming device is believed to be the HTC U12 Life, which might launch later this year.

The marketing materials for HTC Imagine Life was first spotted by Android Authority, who also speculates that this might actually be called the HTC U12 Life when it’s officially announced. The site was also able to provide majority of the device’s specifications and it looks like the handset will be a mid-range phone.

The HTC U12 Life is said to arrive with a 6-inch full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2,160 x 1,080. Inside, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The handset will also have microSD card support for expandable storage, but there’s no information available on whether the handset will arrive with other internal storage configurations.

The HTC U12 Life is also said to have dual cameras on its back: one with a 16-megapixel sensor, and another with 5-megapixel sensor. The dual cameras will have phase detection autofocus and will be able to record video at 4K resolution. Up front, the device will have a 13-megapixel camera that will come with its own flash and will have software-enabled beauty mode.

The HTC Imagine Life will also be packing a 3,600mAh battery. There was no mention of fast charging or wireless charging, but those features seem very unlikely for a mid-range handset. Android Authority also said that the device will have a fingerprint scanner, but the publication is uncertain where exactly it will be placed on the smartphone.

The upcoming mid-range HTC smartphone will also have dual-SIM card support, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. It remains uncertain which version of Android the device will run. Last year, the HTC U11 Life was launched in December with Android Oreo. The site believes that the HTC U12 Life might actually be released earlier than the U11 Life and it may run Android 9.0 P straight out of the box.

If the HTC Imagine Life does end up being the U12 Life, the handset would be arriving with a set of significant improvements from its predecessor. The U11 Life only had a 5.2-inch display, a single rear camera and a small 2,600mAh battery. The U11 Life also had a fingerprint scanner up front and had thick bezels. Perhaps the U12 Life will have thinner bezels and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, but that’s just speculation at this point.

The HTC U12 Life might be released in November, according to Phone Arena. Pricing for the device remains uncertain, but it’s possible that HTC might stray too far away from the $350 price tag of last year’s U11 life.
