HTC One M9 Firmware Update Improves Camera And Battery Performance, Fixes Heating Issue While Charging

A new software update based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop has been rolled out for HTC One M9 devices. The over-the-air update with version 1.40.401.5 is now available to improve the camera and battery performance of the handset. It also resolves an overheating problem.

According to Anand Tech, the update is currently available for users in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The firmware was first made available in HTC's home country of Taiwan a few weeks ago. The source adds that the update should come to North American users within this month. Here are the details of the latest firmware update for HTC One M9:

Camera

The improved auto-exposure balance will now help in preventing overexposure. Hence, snapped images won’t appear washed out. With the update, the Taiwanese tech giant has reduced noise and blur for shooting in dim environments. Users will be able to shoot better photos in low light. Snapped photos will carry true colors as the new firmware reduces yellow and green on images that are shot in extreme lighting.

Battery

HTC has fixed the issue of more battery consumption when using YouTube and Facebook. After updating the HTC One M9, users will be able to stay longer on these sites without faster depletion of the battery.

Heating

With smart-charging thermal enhancement, the HTC One M9 will remain cooler while charging.

Phone Arena reports that HTC One M9 owners are facing problems such as overheating, poor performing camera and low battery life. Even though the new firmware update is not based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, it surely brings much needed improvements to the device that users waiting for.

HTC One M9 is the 2015 flagship by the Taiwanese company. Fitted with a Super LCD3 5-inch screen that supports full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the HTC One M9 is powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset. It is supported by 3 GB of RAM.

The native storage of the device is 32 GB and the external storage supports up to 128 GB of microSD. It has a primary camera of 20 MP and front-facing camera of 4 MP. It comes with numerous connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, 4G, 3G and Bluetooth v4.1. Lastly, it is packed with a non-removable battery of 2,840 mAh.
