Huawei Android Nougat Update: Several Devices Will Follow The Mate 9 To 7.0 And EMUI 5.0
Several reports indicate that Chinese manufacturer Huawei will soon begin updating a number of its most recent smartphones to Android 7.0 Nougat. The updates are expected to hit during the first quarter of 2017 and will feature Huawei’s custom EMUI 5.0. Interface.
The devices that will update to Android 7.0 Nougat include the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei nova and the Huawei nova Plus. Some publications have noted that the Huawei Mate S is not among those scheduled to receive an Android 7.0 update.
There is no indication as to why the device may not update to Google’s latest operating system. It launched in November 2015 running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is scheduled to update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point. Most of the devices scheduled to update to Android 7.0 released running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Currently, Huawei is marketing the Mate 9 smartphone among its first to run Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.0. The device is available in several overseas markets and is expected to launch in the U.S in January.
Huawei has also announced its Honor 8 smartphone is currently receiving Android 7.0 Nougat in beta. However, the Honor brand is considered entity from Huawei’s main brand.
