New renders of the Huawei Mate 20 have surfaced online and they may have already confirmed some of the phone's new design features. The Huawei Mate 20 appears to have a very small notch and the renders show that it will have triple cameras on its back.

The new renders of the Huawei Mate 20 were provided by the folks over at the XDA Developers blog. The site claims that it created the new renders based on real-life photographs of an engineering sample of the Mate 20 that was provided by a Chinese source. XDA also explained that they verified the authenticity of the source based on previously discovered firmware files from weeks before.

The renders of the Huawei mate 20 Pro show that the handset will have a very small notch. The notch on top of the display is very reminiscent of the notch that’s on the Essential Phone or the Oppo F9. This should please a lot of customers who don’t want a big notch that’s similar to the Apple iPhone X. The notch on the Mate 20 is also significantly smaller than the notch that’s found on the Huawei P20.

The Mate 20 is said to have a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2,244 x 1,880. XDA says that the Mate 20 will feature a speaker above the notch. If this is accurate, then this means that the handset will have stereo speakers. The second speaker will be located at the bottom edge of the device.

The Huawei Mate 20 will still have the 3.5mm headphone jack and it will be located on the top edge. The bottom will have a speaker, a microphone and a USB type-C port. The site also provided a render of the Mate 20’s back and it shows that it will indeed have triple cameras.

What’s fascinating about the render is the way Huawei decided to house the triple cameras on the Mate 20. Unlike the P20, the Mate 20 houses all three lenses inside a square-shaped module. The cameras are also accompanied by the LED flash. For those who may have forgotten, the triple cameras on the P20 were vertically aligned and are a bit reminiscent of the dual cameras on the iPhone X. A source also claims that the Huawei Mate 20 will have a glass back, which suggests that the device could have support for wireless charging.

The Huawei Mate 20 will be powered by the Kirin 980 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There will also be other variants that will feature different RAM and storage configurations, as pointed out by 9To5Google. The Mate 20 will run Android 9.0 Pie straight out of the box and it will be packing a huge 4,200mAh battery.

Huawei has already confirmed that the Mate 20 will be officially announced sometime during the month of October. Huawei will most likely tease the upcoming handset during IFA Berlin 2018, where the company will launch the Kirin 980 processor.
