A 49-year-old man was left fighting for his life over the weekend after he was stabbed several times for insulting a Queens, New York homeowner's wife during a parking spot dispute.

The incident started when Gregory Williams tried to park his vehicle in a space right outside 58-year-old Anthony Thomas' Mentone Avenue home at around 5 p.m. Sunday, the New York Post reported, citing witnesses of the stabbing.

According to a witness who wished to remain anonymous, Thomas had attempted to reserve the space using several traffic cones and came out of his house screaming, "I need two spots, one for mine, one for my wife's car!"

Williams, who was visiting friends in Laurelton, allegedly replied, "You don't own the f-----g block!"

Thomas then went back inside his home and returned with a nine-inch butcher knife to confront Williams. Thomas' wife allegedly stood in the doorway telling her husband to "bring your a-- in the house!"

When Williams told Thomas to "go back with your b---h a-- wife," Thomas approached him and started the attack.

"He held (Williams') arm and started stabbing him," the witness said. "(Thomas) stabbed him like six times and let go. People were screaming."

A neighbor who witnessed the incident, Janie Staley, called the police and reported the incident, the New York Daily News reported. Medical responders took Williams to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition, but police said he was now in stable condition.

Another neighbor, Beverly Matthews, told the Post that Thomas did not resist arrest when police arrived.

"He didn't resist, he didn't say anything," Matthews recalled. "(Thomas) looked calm as they took him away hands cuffed behind him."

Thomas was charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of assault.

Staley was quoted by the New York Daily News as saying that she could not believe the incident occurred over a parking spot.

"In a matter of 15 minutes, these two men's lives changed over a parking spot. Over a parking spot! Now (Thomas') going to jail for attempted murder. How stupid is that?" Staley said.

Meanwhile, the assailant's wife, Sabrina Thomas, was distraught Monday as she told reporters that’s "not who he is."

"I stayed up all night. I don’t know what happened. Ask anybody around here. He’s an absolutely wonderful man. He takes care of his family, takes care of everything and everyone. Everybody loves him," Sabrina said.
