'I Signed My Life Away To Disney': Selena Gomez Regrets Her Childhood Decisions
Selena Gomez is all set to make her return to television with the upcoming Hulu series "Only Murders in the Building." Ahead of its release, the singer opened up about working with Disney at a young age and how she felt being a child star.
Gomez was last seen on television in Disney's comedy series "Wizards of Waverly Place," which aired its last episode in 2012.
"I signed my life away to Disney at a very young age and I didn't know what I was doing," Gomez said during Television Critics Association's Summer Press Tour on Friday. "What I'd say is the level of sophistication of the material is the first reason why I wanted to do this."
She recalled the time working on the sets of the Disney comedy series and how she spent her time "running around on set."
"But when I was a kid, I didn't know what I was doing," she explained. "I was just running around on set and now I just feel like a sponge and I soak up all the wisdom that I can."
Gomez said she felt "really nice" to be back on television with "Only Murders in the Building."
"It's just it's really nice to be back on TV and it’s nice to be cast as my actual age, which never happens," she added. "So I am very happy to be doing this. I was just a kid. I didn't know what I was thinking."
In the Hulu series, Gomez will work alongside comedy legends Martin Short and Steve Martin. The series consists of 10 episodes and is slated to release on Aug. 31.
The series revolves around three people living in the same building. After a murder that took place in an apartment in their building, all three of them get involved in the case and use their detective skills to investigate the mysterious death of their neighbor.
The former Disney star shared its first look trailer in May and wrote, "Everybody is a suspect."
Besides the Hulu series, the singer will also lend her voice to a character in the fourth installment of "Hotel Transylvania," which is slated to release on Oct. 1.
