Ian Somerhalder Pens Touching Letter To Wife, New Mom Nikki Reed

Ian Somerhalder is not only a doting dad to his daughter, Bodhi Soleil, but he is also a proud husband to his wife, Nikki Reed.

On Monday, “The Vampire Diaries” alum penned a touching letter to his wife via his Instagram account. The actor posted a photo of Reed’s Fit Pregnancy and Baby magazine cover and revealed that she was asleep while he was writing his lengthy note. Somerhalder was brought back to the 9 months that Reed sacrificed everything for their daughter while she was pregnant.

Somerhalder also noted how Reed’s pregnancy brought so much “fun and power” into their lives and said that his wife still managed to look sexy in those 9 months. Towards the end of his letter, the actor thanked Reed for being his partner for life, as well as for inspiring him and everyone who is aware of everything she has done.

Reed and Somerhalder welcomed their first child on July 25. In an interview the publication, the “Sleepy Hollow” actress said that she and her husband plan on taking some time to themselves now that Bodhi has arrived. “After the baby arrives, we’re doing one month of silence. Just the three of us, no visitors, and we’re turning off our phones too, so there’s no expectation for us to communicate,” she said.

The couple first announced Reed’s pregnancy in May via Instagram. Reed posted a photo of her growing baby bump at the time. Somerhalder kisses Reed’s tummy in the snap. In her caption, the 29-year-old actress said that they haven’t even met their baby, but they already love her so much. Reed also said that she and her husband can’t wait to meet their blessing.

On his Instagram account, Somerhalder also announced Reed’s pregnancy and said that he has never experienced anything more “powerful and beautiful” than having a child.

The couple tied the knot on April 26, 2015 in Malibu, just months after they got engaged in January of the same year. Reed is Somerhalder’s first wife, but this is the second marriage for the actress. She was previously married to “American Idol” contestant Paul McDonald, according to Entertainment Tonight. Reed and McDonald finalized their divorce a few weeks before the actress announced her engagement to Somerhalder.
