Ian Somerhalder’s Wife Nikki Reed Reveals Plans After Giving Birth To Baby

Nikki Reed is already planning what she and husband Ian Somerhalder will be doing once their first baby arrives. According to the “Twilight” star, they intend to keep a low profile for a whole month after she gives birth.

In a recent interview with Fit Pregnancy and Baby, Reed disclosed that they will be hiding from the public’s eye for a couple of weeks after they welcome their baby this August. “We’ll take the baby’s first month for ourselves,” the 29-year-old mom-to-be said. “After the baby arrives, we’re doing one month of silence. Just the three of us, no visitors, and we’re turning off our phones too, so there’s no expectation for us to communicate.”

Explaining the reason why they intend to do so, Reed said that their decision to cut off communications would be for the better. “Otherwise, every five minutes it would be, ‘How are you feeling? Can we have a picture?’ You don’t get those first 30 days back, and we want to be fully present,” she explained.

Reed is on the cover of the magazine’s September issue. She recently had a photoshoot for the cover, in which she can be seen sporting a linen dress that highlights her baby bump. Reed and her 38-year-old husband are excited to meet their first child together, so it does not come as a surprise that the actress is opening up about her pregnancy.

Interestingly, the couple has decided to keep the sex of their baby a surprise for them to uncover when it’s time for Reed to deliver, Daily Mail has learned. “A close friend had a son and I remember thinking, ‘I hope I have a son one day.’ Then another friend had a girl and I thought, ‘How fun would it be to have a miniature version of yourself?’” Reed explained. “You can’t lose, no matter what. It’s the greatest and only true surprise of your life.”

Meanwhile, Reed joked about how the “Vampire Diaries” alum wants her to be forever pregnant. “Ian jokes that he wants to keep me pregnant forever. I’m a very driven person with lots of energy. I can run multiple companies, read four books at once, and take a conference call while cooking dinner. But pregnant, I’m a better version of myself,” she said. “I’m really chill and relaxed, which I think is the greatest blessing.”

Reed and Somerhalder tied the knot in April 2015 after nine months of exclusively dating. They announced that they are expecting their first child in May.
