'Ice Cream': Blackpink's Collaboration Track With Selena Gomez Surpasses 700 Million Views On YouTube
Just a few weeks after Blackpink hinted at the release of a new song, the girl group's almost two-year-old music video, "Ice Cream" with Selena Gomez, hit 700 million views on YouTube.
The upbeat summer-themed video was released in August 2020 and it achieved over 700 million views Sunday.
Though the quartet is yet to reunite onstage, their old music videos just keep adding numbers on views and audience engagements. They already have five music videos that have breached the billion mark: "Kill This Love," "Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du," "Boombayah," "As If It's Your Last" and "How You Like That."
The group has two other tracks that have surpassed 700 million views on the video-sharing platform. They include "Whistle" and "Playing With Fire."
Jennie Kim had previously revealed the group was back in the studio for new music.
She told fans (known as BLINKS) in a live chat on VLive, "I can't give any comeback spoilers and I can't tell you when, and I know I've been saying this all day, but we are working really really hard so please look forward to it BLINKs!"
When the group was on a hiatus, Rosé and Lisa successfully launched solo musical projects, while Jisoo starred in the controversial drama "Snowdrop," which is available on Disney+. Jennie was the first to launch a solo album in 2018.
Rosé recently celebrated her 25th birthday by posting three cover tracks on her YouTube channel, which included Coldplay's 2008 hit "Viva La Vida." The "Pretty Savage" singer performed an acoustic version of the track with DJ and YG Entertainment producer and singer LØREN.
"Viva La Vida" was No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in June 2008. It also grabbed two Grammys: Song of Year and Best Pop Performance by a duo or group with vocals.
Rosé had previously performed covers of her favorite songs, including Paramore's "The Only Exception," Cautious Clay's "Wildfire," and Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You." The New Zealand-born K-pop musician sang another Coldplay classic, "Fix You," back in 2020 and described it as a track "that gave me a lot of comfort during my trainee days."
