Despite some of the negative criticism he has been receiving, ILoveMakonnen is happy that he came out of the closet as gay. The “Swerve” rapper tweeted about his life-changing decision Sunday night.

“The best decision I ever made in my life is coming out of the closet. I feel so much better and happier that I can truly just be me!” he wrote.

He followed up his tweet by encouraging his followers to happily live out their lives. “Life is beautiful. Drink more water and enjoy living because it’s truly a once in a life time opportunity that’s a limited time only,” ILoveMakonnen wrote.

Although it seems like the “Tuesday” rapper, whose real name is Makonnen Sheran, is enjoying life after his confession, it looks like he is still dealing with some negativity and possibly people who no longer want to be associated with him. The rapper told his Twitter followers that they should not be upset if people no longer want to be in their lives. He suggested that fans “Stay true and do you.”

The artist went on to encourage fans to remain busy, to not worry about others and keep themselves occupied to prevent further stress. “Feel good today, for you are alive and well, look at what’s going right in your life instead of what’s going wrong,” he tweeted.

ILoveMakonnen announced he was gay on Jan. 20 by tweeting to his followers, “As a fashion icon, I can’t tell u about everybody else’s closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it’s time I’ve come out.”

He continued his statement, writing, “And since y’all love breaking news, here’s some old news to break, I’m gay. And now I’ve told u about my life, maybe u can go life yours.”
