Commonly called belly fat, the amount of visceral fat in the body may be difficult to determine because of its location. Hidden deep inside your abdominal cavity, it is wrapped around some of your most vital organs. This makes visceral fat so dangerous as it is located right by your intestines, liver, and pancreas.

Two signs that you may be carrying too much visceral fat are a large waist and a protruding belly. If this is the case, you may be at risk of developing serious health problems.

Getting Rid of Visceral Fat

Good thing you can minimize, or even remove much of this visceral fat, by observing a healthy diet and performing more physical activities. There is also one food type that you might want to include in your diet to improve your metabolism and boost the fat-burning abilities of your body.

Spicy chili peppers, a new study showed, can improve the fat burning abilities and metabolism of your body. This food type contains capsaicin, a compound recognized for its ability to lower caloric consumption and increase satiety.

Consuming jalapeños and spicy chills also help in lowering your appetite and calorie intake. According to researchers, the heat produced by peppers increases a person’s calorie consumption and oxidase layers of fat.

A Study On Chili

Experts from BioMed Central or BMC, analyzed the effect of consuming spicy food as regards fat loss. According to the researchers, past studies have found consuming spicy food has beneficial effects on weight loss and management in intervention studies. They also pointed to a Korean study where consuming spicy sauce regularly for 12 weeks led to better lipid profiles and reduction of visceral fat. The weight of the participants, however, remained unchanged.

The heat coming from jalapeños and chili discourages animals from munching on them, but humans have developed a taste for them. In fact, these types of food have been a staple of a lot of diets around the world since ancient times. Today, scientists say including them in your diet can help you get rid of the dangerous visceral fat.

University of California researchers asked 34 men and women who expressed willingness in consuming for 28 days a very low-calorie liquid diet replacement product. Led by Dr. David Heber, the researchers chose subjects randomly to either take placebo pills or supplements that contain non-burning DCT pepper.

After the study, researchers found convincing evidence that at least for a couple of hours after eating the test meal, energy expenditure was considerably increased in the DCT pepper group. In fact, the immediate effect was almost twice that of the placebo group. Researchers were able to prove that DCT considerably increased fat oxidation, forcing the body to utilize more fat as fuel. It helps boost your metabolism by about four to five percent daily, helping you burn body fat and visceral fat more easily.
