India inflation rises to 7.31 percent
NEW DELHI (Commodity Online) : India's inflation rate based on wholesale price index moved up to 7.31 percent in December 2009 from 4.78 percent in November.
According to official figures from India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the annual food price index increased to 17.28% as on January 2 from 11.48% growth recorded a year ago.
The price index for primary article rose to 13.82% from 12.06% a year earlier. The Petrol prices rose 6.25%, said the Ministry.
The WPI, used as a measure of inflation, rose 0.4% to 246.5 from 245.4 in November. A year ago, the WPI inflation was 6.15%.
