Police in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina, charged the mother of a six-month-old baby with murder Friday, a month after the infant was found dead in a cemetery.

On Feb.21, Tamara Jernel Brown, 30, was located near Galleria Boulevard and was arrested on the grounds of robbery, and assaulting an officer. On further questioning, the police found that her baby wasn’t with her. Brown refused to answer when the officers asked where her child was.

Police immediately issued an Amber Alert for Chi-Liam asking for the public's help in locating the young boy. The alert stated that he was last seen with his mother leaving their home in the 1800 block Gander Cove Lane in Matthews. The infant was found dead in Sharon Memorial Park on Monroe Road in southeast Charlotte, a day later.

Further investigation and evidence gathered by CMPD homicide detectives ultimately proved Brown’s involvement in the boy’s death. She was charged with murder Friday. Police have not released the cause of death of the infant.

In a similar incident this month, a mother was arrested for murder after her four-year-old son who was found dead at their home in Sugar Land, Texas. The woman,36-year-old Ritika Rohatgi Agrawal, was found walking around the home with injuries when her husband returned home. The man immediately informed the police about the incident. The responding officers found the boy’s body upstairs with his throat slit. The police said the wounds found on the woman’s neck and wrists were self-inflicted.
