Influencing Gone Wrong: 'Bachelor' Star Amanda Stanton Sued Over Brand Deal
Influencers seem to have the easiest job ever -- go on all-expenses-paid vacations and wear free merch in exchange for a social media post to their thousands, if not millions, of followers. But what happens if they fail to hold up their end of the bargain? Apparently, you get sued like "Bachelor" alum Amanda Stanton.
The 29-year-old received a pricey gift (a Chanel bag worth over $3K - pictured below) from Moonstone Vintage LA in exchange for promotion on her Instagram, which boasts 1.2 million followers, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. However, after receiving the purse, Stanton failed to tag or mention the boutique in any posts of her with the Chanel bag until two days after she started using it at Coachella. And in this case, "better late than never" is not OK.
Now, Moonstone is suing for just shy of $5,000 to cover the cost of the luxury item plus shipping and handling expenses. Sources of the entertainment news site said that the store personally delivered the bag from Santa Monica to Coachella.
A rep for the mother of two told TMZ that the whole ordeal was a "miscommunication."
"Amanda didn’t have full confidence in what she was advertising and was trying to negotiate with the brand to cancel the deal. We are working to settle this privately," the rep said.
This wouldn't be the first time Stanton's been involved with the law. She talked about getting arrested in Las Vegas in her new book "Now Accepting Roses." The incident involved a drunken night with friends and her then-boyfriend Bobby Jacobs, which resulted in her getting arrested for domestic violence.
In the end, the blonde didn't regret a thing.
“Despite everything, if I could take it all back, I wouldn’t,” she wrote. "This incident has made all my relationships stronger.”
