Nearly two years after listing the property on the market, Scarlett Johansson has finally sold her Manhattan penthouse. But the deal only earned her losses instead of profit.
The Hollywood actress recently sealed a deal to let go of her longtime Sutton Place spread. Johansson purchased the property in 2008 for around $2.1 million, but she’s decided to settle with a buyer who agreed to shell out $1.87 million for the penthouse, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
The “Avengers” star officially sold the property on March 11, incurring an instant $223,000 loss. In addition, Johansson could also list more losses for the pricey renovations and makeover she did when she stayed in the penthouse.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom home features an updated kitchen with marble countertops and a simple but exquisite dining area. The primary bedroom comes with an ensuite bath and an expansive walk-in closet. The second bedroom has a wall of glass separating it from the living area.
Johansson’s former abode also boasts a terrace with skyline views since the property is in a white-glove postwar building overlooking the East River. There is also space for al fresco dining.
Adding to the grandeur are the hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling sliding windows. Building amenities include an additional laundry room, a full-time doorman and a parking garage.
Colin Jost’s wife first listed the property in July 2020 with a $2.5 million asking price. Last December, she cut down the price to $1.89 million since there were still no takers.
Even though the Marvel actress sold her former home at a loss, there’s no reason for her to cry over spilled milk. With an estimated net worth of $165 million, she was dubbed the highest-paid actress for two years, in 2018 and 2019.
It’s also worth noting that she bought a dreamy New York house in 2018. The four-bedroom Snedens Landing mansion sits on 0.79 acres overlooking the Hudson River. Nicknamed “The Ivy House,” the property features wrought-iron balconies, brick patios, gardens, a glass-enclosed greenhouse and a pool with a cabana, according to House Beautiful.
