Instagram Slideshow Update: How To Upload Multiple Pictures, Videos With New Carousel Feature
You can now upload up to 10 photos and video in one post on Instagram with its new slideshow (carousel) feature, the social media platform announced Wednesday.
The new Instagram slideshow feature lets users upload multiple pictures and videos so “you no longer have to choose the single best photo or video,” Instagram said. The update allows followers to swipe through each photo or video that was uploaded, kind of like Moments on Twitter.
How To Upload Multiple Pictures With The New Instagram Slideshow Update
1. Update the Instagram app on your device.
2. Go to the bottom center of the screen, just like you do when you upload single images or videos.
3. Tap on library and hit the new multiple media icon
4. Pick the photos and videos you want to upload from your device’s library (10 maximum).
5. You can adjust the images and videos by cropping (all media will be in square mode though) and applying a filter to all items or a different filter to each one. Once you’re done editing your photos Instagram gives you the option to add more images in case you forgot one and have not exceeded the limit.
6. You can change the order of the images by tapping, holding the image and dragging it left or right. If you don’t want to use a certain photo or video anymore you can press, hold and move it upwards where the trash symbol will appear.
7. Once you’re satisfied with the editing tap Next on the top right.
8. If you want to tag someone, click on the media before sharing it and swipe to the right to go through each individual image or click on the Tag People option.
9. You can add one location and caption for the entire post.
10. Once you’re set hit Share.
What Do The Blue Dots Mean On Instagram?
Users will know if your post includes multiple pictures when scrolling through their feed, since the post has blue dots (depending on the number of images uploaded) on the bottom indicating there’s more. There will also be a multiple photos icon that will appear on the top right of the post when looking at person’s profile grid.
Instagram Tips: Trouble Accessing The New Slideshow Feature
The feature had been previously revealed during its 10.7.0 beta version earlier this month, and seemed to work for some Android users. The most recent update, Instagram’s 10.9 version, is available for iOS and Android and also comes with bug fixes.
I had trouble accessing the new feature when I updated Instagram on my iPhone 7. The multiple photos icon upload button didn’t show up at first. If it happens to you as well, try deleting the app and downloading it again. I also signed out of my account and restarted my phone. I was able to use the feature about 10 minutes after I had initially downloaded it.
