Interstate 287 Accident: Multi-Vehicle Crash Halts Traffic, 1 Person Seriously Injured

UPDATE: 11.20 p.m., EST - A person who was serious has reportedly succumbed to injuries following the crash on I-287 in Harrison. A total of three vehicles were involved in the accident. One of the vehicles "flipped over into the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes." The New York State Police remained at the scene.

At least one person was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 287 in Harrison on Thursday night.
The New York State Police took to Twitter to confirm that all eastbound lanes were blocked due to a "serious injury crash.”
“All EB traffic being diverted off at Exit 9A Brewster, Town of Harrison, Westchester County. Lanes to reopen in approximately 3-4 hours,” the department tweeted.

Speaking to the Journal News, Brian Sury, a witness, said he was traveling with his daughter and her fiancé in the eastbound lane when they abruptly changed their direction in order to “avoid a wrong-driver coming at them.”
According to local reports, several people were extricated from their vehicles, however, there was no information about the number of people injured in the accident.
