Intoxicated Man Allegedly Kills His 2-Year-Old Child For Crying; Accused Arrested

A 2-year-old child in India was allegedly killed by his father Monday for crying.

According to local reports, the man, who lived in the southern city of Hyderabad, was drunk when he severely assaulted the boy.

The police learned about the incident after the baby's mother filed a complaint against her husband, following which the accused was arrested, India Today reported.

The accused, identified by his first name Sudhakar, worked as a security guard at an apartment. On Monday night, Sudhakar reached home in an inebriated state and severely assaulted the boy, identified as Jeevan, when he started crying.

The child died due to severe injuries as a result of the assault, Samayam Telugu reported [Google Translate showed].

Local police registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The police have been questioning the accused as part of the investigation.

It remains unclear where the child's mother, Divya, was at the time of the incident.

In a similar incident in September, a man allegedly strangled his 4-month-old son to death after his wife refused to return home with him from her parents' house. The incident took place in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The accused – identified as 30-year-old Sanjay Verma – was heavily drunk when he committed the crime. The couple, who got married in 2015, reportedly had frequent arguments. The accused went to his in-laws' house to bring his wife home. But as she denied his request, the accused decided to stay with her at her parents' home. Three days later, Verma got intoxicated and forced his wife to return home. When she refused, he got enraged. He snatched the baby from his mother's lap and pushed the child against the wall, before strangling him. He then fled the scene. The child was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

In June, a man in India allegedly strangled his newborn girl to death for having a dark complexion. The accused, who was identified as Rohul Islam, had a girl child for the third consecutive time. He was annoyed his daughter had a dark skin color. On the day of the tragedy, when the child's mother went to the washroom, her husband strangled the newborn to death.
