iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak: How to Use Absinthe for Windows to Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 [VIDEO]

As promised, the Chronic Dev Team has finally released a Windows version of the latest untethered jailbreak utility for the A5 devices. Yes, Absinthe now works on Windows as well!

The Windows version of the Absinthe is simple to use, like its Mac counterpart. It provides the long-awaited untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 with Absinthe for Windows.

But before you proceed, make sure that your iPad 2 is on iOS 5.0.1. iPhone 4S users can adopt iOS 5 or 5.0.1. You can find a detailed tutorial on how to use CLI tool on Windows to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2, click here.

Step 1: Download Absinthe for Windows. After that unzip the file and then open it as an administrator.

Step 2: Connect iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to the computer via USB cable.

Step 3: After Absinthe recognizes that a device is connected to the computer, click on the Jailbreak button.

Step 4: After the process gets over, go to the device's home screen and locate the Absinthe icon. Now tap on the icon and it will execute the final stage of the jailbreak.

Step 5: Once the process is finished, the device will restart itself. You will then notice that the Cydia icon has replaced the Absinthe one.

If you get an Error establishing a database connection message, don't panic. Just exit to your Springboard and keep trying to launch the Absinthe app. The error occurs due to heavy increase in traffic. As an alternative, you can follow the step below.

Tap the Settings icon on the Springboard and turn on VPN. You will get an error message, but after a while, your device will reboot with Cydia on the Springboard. For more details on common Absinthe issues and their fixes, click here.
