The launch of Apple’s next flagship phone, unofficially called the iPhone 11, is slated in just a few days, and so far, Apple analysts and fans are already resigned to the fact that we might be getting an iOS smartphone with the same looks and modest internal upgrades.

So far, based on recent news, there’s nothing to be too excited about, not even the triple-camera system that’s been getting a lot of attention lately. The triple-camera module, despite being described as both ugly and boring, actually offers a powerful feature to the new phone. The system is a sophisticated function, reported to have a 12MP wide-angle lens along with the 12MP main lens plus a telephoto lens on the iPhone XS range. The flash is also expected to be brighter and will even have a “smart frame” function that aims to adjust distorted photos using extra image details taken using other camera lenses.

But now, there’s news that Apple might have a surprise up its sleeves. Could the Cupertino giant be introducing the iPhone Fold this year? According to Forbes, the surprise is definitely coming, but it might not be until next year, which reliable Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo said would be the time when Apple overhauls its three flagship models.

This news pretty much confirms Kuo’s earlier statement that there won’t be much changes coming to the iPhone 11 and that changes in looks will happen only next year. The difference, of course would mainly come from the triple-camera system. The iPhone 11 is also expected to have a better front-facing camera, a redesigned logic board which will house an A13 chip for faster performance and the very real possibility of better battery life.

These (very few) changes will set a user back at least $1,000 for the unit -- similar to last year’s line which means the new phones are still going to be relatively expensive. In comparison, the 2020 iPhones are said to be 5G-ready. According to an earlier report from IBTimes, a note from reliable industry insider JPMorgan said that Apple’s 2020 iPhones are indeed getting 5G connectivity.

If true, then this is going to be a big problem for Apple when it comes to selling their latest iOS gadget as it might seem more practical to wait out one more year before deciding to upgrade to another iPhone.

The iPhone 11 will drop this Sept. 10.
