iPhone 8 Cases Pre-Order: Images Show Bezel-Less Screen, Embedded Touch ID, More Features
Case manufacturer Olixar revealed its complete line of cases for this year’s iPhone 8, which shows the back and front of the device, 9to5Mac reported.
Olixar based the design on “information and schematics they’ve acquired through their factories and contacts in the Far East,” MobileFun, the company selling the cases, told 9to5mac.
MobileFun has already started accepting preorders for the iPhone 8 cases, which vary from $10.99 to $26.49. The company has started pushing its products ahead of the iPhone 8’s expected release this fall.
The images back up previous rumors surrounding the iPhone 8, which also could be called the iPhone X, iPhone Pro or iPhone Edition.
Bezel-Less Display
The images of the Olixar iPhone 8 cases suggest the 10th anniversary iPhone will come with a bezel-less display. Apple reportedly signed a $9 billion two-year deal with Samsung for its OLED screen displays in April. A recent DigiTimes report said Samsung is set to deliver 80 million OLED panels to Apple before the end of the year.

Touch ID
The images also show no Touch ID on the front or back of the device. Previous rumors suggested Apple would ditch the Home button on the iPhone 8 and instead embed the Touch ID onto the screen display. However, Apple was reportedly having trouble with the new feature. One of the options to tackle the problem was to place the Touch ID on the back of the device, like Samsung did for Galaxy S8.
Other reports pointed to facial recognition through its rumored 3D-sensing camera. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in February the iPhone 8 could come with a 3D camera, which would also support augmented reality capabilities. This month, Apple supplier Largan Precision confirmed it would ship lenses for 3D sensing modules in the second half of this year. The company did not specify it would supply the lenses for Apple, but it is believed to be for Apple.
Vertical Dual-Camera System
The Olixar cases also back up previous rumors pointing to a vertical dual-camera system on the back of the iPhone 8. The system would be placed differently than it was on last year’s iPhone 7, which was placed horizontally. The vertical alignment is expected to improve photos captured by the phone.
Other reports indicated the iPhone 8 will come with wireless charging capabilities and True Tone display, which adjusts the screen’s color and intensity depending on the environment.
The 10th anniversary iPhone is expected to be revealed alongside the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus in September and is rumored to have a price tag exceeding $1,000.
