Iran’s Fars News Agency claimed on Monday that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps had successfully test-fired a “homemade air defense missile shield.” Footage from Iran’s state media showed the missiles hit a flying target and completely destroyed it.

According to the Associated Press and CBS, Iran actually test-fired four missiles, designed to hit warships, that hit their target and sank a warship-size target. The testing happened nearby where the U.S. Navy was running maneuvers in the Persian Gulf.

“The missiles were fired simultaneously at a sea target as large as a warship and sank it in 50 seconds,” General Ali Fadavi told Fars. He also claimed that Iran’s missile systems can reach the entire Persian Gulf coastline, according to Israeli outlet Arut Sheva.
