Seo Ye Ji, star of the hit Netflix show “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” opened up about the series’ finale and how she felt about the end of her project with Kim Soo Hyun.
Seo, who played Ko Moon-young in the show, told Cosmopolitan Korea that she had no time to watch “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” while she was still filming the Korean drama. Thus, after the production wrapped up, she took some time to watch it.
Seo said she didn’t focus on her acting but rather watched the series from a viewer’s perspective.
“Instead of monitoring my acting, I tried to watch it from a viewer’s perspective and I felt like it did a good job of bringing closure to the pain and it made my heart warm,” the actress said.
Seo also discussed how Kim, who played Moon Gang-tae in “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” was like in real life, revealing that the actor is actually a funny guy who lightens up the mood on set. However, this comic personality shifts when he needs to be his character.
“[W]hen we start acting he totally focuses on his role and becomes the best acting partner. Towards the end of the drama, there were scenes that used a lot of emotions, and I received a lot of help from him for those parts,” Seo said.
Apart from these, the Korean stunner also talked about her style, especially since her character’s fashion sense has been the talk of the town. In real life, Seo revealed that she opts for something simple rather than flashy clothing.
“I like simple styles like a white t-shirt and jeans. The outfits I wore for the drama was something totally new for me. I do like to wear dresses so it was fun to be able to wear so many fun dresses,” she explained.
Meanwhile, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” ended its run on Korean channel tvN on Aug. 9 with its highest viewership ratings since the drama's premiere. According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode scored an average nationwide rating of 7.3% and a peak of 7.6%, marking an all-time high for the show.
