Ivanka Trump is now an official Republican.

President Donald Trump’s daughter used to be a Democrat and she has just completed the evolution to become an official Republican, The New York Times reported. Ivanka was a New York socialite who donated to Democratic politicians and vocally supported gay rights. When her dad became president, Ivanka also became one of the members of her father’s “Make America Great Again” coalition.

Ivanka reportedly said on Monday that she made the decision to officially change her voter registration from Democrat to Republican, so she could vote for her father in New York. She wasn’t able to do it back in 2016 because she missed the deadline. Ivanka made the change on Oct. 22, 2018 ahead of the midterm election.

“I am a proud Trump Republican,” Ivanka said. “I believe he’s broadened the reach of the Republican Party, which is really important to me.”

Ivanka is aware that her move might confuse other people, but the first daughter doesn’t want to dwell on that.

“I’m not going to speculate on the projections other people have cast upon me. In areas outside of my portfolio, I tend to agree more with the more conservative viewpoint more often than where the Democrats are today. No one person or party has a monopoly on good ideas,” she added.

Ivanka has served as her father’s senior adviser. She has made a few public appearances for the POTUS during his 2016 campaign. This time, she will be making appearances on a four-city raising swing at the end of March in Oklahoma, Texas, Florida and New York.

However, Ivanka might not return to the White House if her father wins the re-election. She said in a past interview that her decision will depend on her children’s happiness.

“I am driven, first and foremost, by my kids and their happiness, so that is always going to be my top priority, and my decisions will always be flexible enough to ensure that their needs are being considered,” Ivanka said.

In related news, Ivanka was called fake after allegedly editing her photo to make her waist appear slimmer. The controversial snap was taken in Taj Mahal when she joined Trump and Melania in a two-day visit to India.
