The POTUS showed his support to Sammy’s Mexican Grill by tweeting about their restaurant. He also praised them for doing a “wonderful job.“
“The food is GREAT at Sammy’s Mexican Grill in Phoenix, Arizona. Congratulations to Betty & Jorge Rivas on doing such a wonderful job. I will try hard to stop by the next time I am in Phoenix. Support Sammy’s! @foxandfriends,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
However, according to The Guardian, the president made a mistake. The restaurant was located in Tucson and is actually very far away from Phoenix. The two cities are 113 miles apart. Also, the POTUS’ hardline immigration policies make him unpopular to most Latino-Americans. But the co-owner of the restaurant that the POTUS praised, Betty Rivas, is a supporter of Trump.
During Trump’s rally in Phoenix last month, Betty was seen standing behind Trump wearing a red cowboy hat emblazoned with “Latinos Love Trump.” Jorge Rivas, co-owner of Sammy’s, also admitted that they received ugly stuff on social media including the restaurant’s Yelp and Google pages for supporting Trump. However, they defended their rights as a “naturalized American citizens” and insisted that they could vote and support whoever they want.
“Just because we are Latinos it doesn’t mean that we have to feel like every other Latino in this country,” Jorge said. “We are individuals and we feel that we have the constitutional right to meet and support whoever we want.”
Trump has continued to make mistakes despite the rumors that he has dementia. According to research, people who make simple mistakes could be showing early signs of dementia. Small errors like forgetting to take a tea bag out of a cup or not putting milk back in the fridge could point to a deadly disease, Express reported.
In February, Trump sparked dementia rumors when he mentioned his whole family but forgot about his wife Melania and daughter with Marla Maples, Tiffany. His statement sparked various reactions from online users, with some believing it had something to do with dementia.
“Aye - that forgetting members of one’s family thing is so totally normal... not! It is a symptom of quite advanced memory loss and dementia. He didn’t mention his other daughter Tiffany either.. He seldom does,” one wrote on Twitter.
