Ivanka Trump Cried After Learning About Parents’ Divorce: ‘Children Are All Wrecks’

Ivanka Trump cried home when she learned about her parents Ivana and Donald Trump’s divorce.

The president was married to Ivana before he met Marla Maples and Melania Trump. Ivana and Donald have three children together: Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric.

According to Business Insider, Ivana and Donald’s marriage hit the rock bottom when he started an affair with model Marla Maples in the early 1990s. Donald and Maples dominated the tabloids that year and in 1991, they decided to end their marriage. Their three kids were very affected, according to Ivana.

“The children are all wrecks,” Ivana told gossip columnist Liz Smith.

“Ivanka now comes home from school crying, ‘Mommy, does it mean I’m not going to be Ivanka Trump anymore?’ Little Eric asks me, ‘Is it true you are going away and not coming back?’”

According to Vanity Fair, Ivana had been completely humiliated by Donald’s public association with Maples while they were still married. Donald Jr. even questioned his father about his feelings toward his family.

“How can you say you love us? You don’t love us! You don’t even love yourself. You just love your money,” 12-year-old Donald Jr. reportedly told his dad, according to Ivana’s friends.

After Ivana and Donald’s marriage, he went on and married Maples in 1993. They have one daughter together, Tiffany. However, their marriage didn’t last long because in 1997, they announced their plans to divorce. In 1998, the POTUS met Melania and they got married in 2005. They welcomed their son Barron in 2006.

Melania and Ivanka are the the two women often seen with the president. However, according to Kate Bennett in her book “Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography,” the two ladies are cordial but not close. The first lady allegedly felt that the first daughter was “invading her turf.”
