KEY POINTS

  • Surprisingly, Don Jr. and Ivanka aren't tweeting anything about the Soleimani slaying and their father's role in the assasination
  • Both presidential siblings have posted zilch on Twitter since January 3 about this explosive issue
  • The question now is why both presidential siblings choose to remain silent.

Donald Trump Jr. has been strangely quiet on his Twitter account about the Soleimani slaying scandal currently savaging his father's reputation. A look at Don Jr.'s tweets since January 3, the day his dad ordered the assassination of Iranian major general Qasem Soleimani, shows him making exactly zero direct comments about this explosive geopolitical issue. Don Jr. is contenting himself with retweets.

It's been just three days since president Trump's first comment on the assassination of Soleimani was the image of an American flag on his Twitter account. In the days since January 3, Donald Trump Jr. has seen his dad blasted for lying about the "imminent" threat that led to POTUS' order to kill Soleimani. Trump Sr. is also being accused of fomenting a war crime with his threat to bomb Iranian cultural sites.

You'd expect Don Jr.'s Twitter account to be awash in his comments defending his dad but it isn't for some reason. Don Jr. began the weekend re-tweeting a comment from an indignant Christian who took issue with someone ridiculing evangelicals laying their hands on Trump to bless him.

He then retweeted a tweet from Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) defending Trump's order to kill Soleimani. Zeldin wrote in reply to House majority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-NY), "Disproportionate”? Seriously? Over 500+ US troops were killed & thousands more were injured, bc of Soleimani, & he was actively planning new attacks against US troops & diplomats. Pelosi is totally blinded with party over country partisan politics. POTUS def made the right call!"

Don Jr. then retweeted a comment made by Matt Wolking, deputy director of communications, rapid response for Donald J. Trump for President, about that old Benghazi issue that used to bedevil Hillary Clinton.

What follows is another retweet, this time from a supporter taking the cudgels to Ben Rhodes of MSNBC and the author of "The World As It Is: A Memoir of the Obama White House." The bone of contention in this retweet was Rhodes' statement that "This is BS from Pompeo. This isn’t a ‘both sides argue’ issue, it’s about facts: Iran was complying with deal that rolled back nuke program and there were 0 rocket attacks on U.S. interests in Iraq during that time. Trump pulled out and Iran resumed nuke program and rocket attacks."

Don Jr.'s first direct comment on any issue was the exclamation "Yikes," which is in reply to a tweet assailing one of his favorite punching bags, former vice president Joe Biden. The tweet Don Jr. happily responded to said, "A young man tells Joe Biden that his father lost his health insurance plan and the cost doubled, even though Obama promised insurances will be cheaper. He asks if Joe was lying or if he didn't understand Obamacare when he supported it."

What followed were retweets from three GOP operatives blasting Biden and John Kerry.

The same Twitter silence about the murder of Soleimani has also infested Ivanka's twitter account. The first daughter and presidential adviser has not made any comment, nor has she retweeted about the on-going U.S.-Iran conflict. The last post of Ivanka was a retweet about the successful Paid Parental Leave.

The question now is why both presidential siblings choose to remain silent.
