Jack Antonoff Credits Taylor Swift As First Artist To Recognize Him As Producer

Taylor Swift was the first artist to recognize Jack Antonoff as a producer.

Anontoff has made it big in the music industry from being part of the band Fun to becoming a highly-acclaimed producer to renowned artists like Lana Del Rey, Lorde, St. Vincent, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Swift. However, Antonoff gave credit to Swift when it comes to his career as a producer.

“Taylor’s the first person who let me produce a song,” Antonoff told The New York Times.

“Before Taylor, everyone said: ‘You’re not a producer.’ It took Taylor Swift to say: ‘I like the way this sounds..”

Swift and Antonoff worked together on a song for a movie soundtrack in 2013. They also collaborated for Swift’s 2014 album “1989.”

Last year, he co-produced and co-wrote half of Swift’s album “Lover.” He was also the primary producer and co-writer of Del Rey’s album “Norman [expletive] Rockwell!” In between, he still found time to record the “Red Hearse” album and produce and co-write a song for Carly Rae Jepsen. Antonoff has a tight schedule and he doesn’t mind it because he works with his friends. In fact, he admitted that he only works with his friends.

“Basically, I only work with my friends,” he confessed.

“Also, they’re kind of my only friends at this point. I mean, I have my childhood friends. But your friends are who you spend your life with. I spend my life in the studio, with these people.”

According to Antonoff, his professional career in the music industry started when he was in a room with his friends making music. It was in 2017 when he started hanging out with singer-songwriter Sam Dew from Chicago and Los Angeles-based producer Mark (Sounwave) Spears, who is best known for his work with Kendrick Lamar. The trio’s frequent get-together to share ideas about music led to impromptu sessions and an album. Antonoff said they felt that it was cool and they decided to do it.

“You know, just some friends that got in a room and made music,” he said.

In related news, Swift’s “The Man’s” music video caused a stir when she shared a teaser on Twitter. Many felt that the venue was similar to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s house. Swift and West are rumored to be feuding over the years.

Meanwhile, Swift also had a falling-out with Katy Perry. But the “Roar” singer said that they already forgave each other and have been on good terms for a while.
