Jack White’s Former Wife, Karen Elson, Gets Restraining Oder Against The Singer After He Allegedly Threatened Her
Singer Jack White has been hit with a restraining order after his former wife, model Karen Elson, told a Nashville, Tenn., judge that the singer is dangerous and that she feared for her safety.
White, the lead singer of White Stripes, allegedly harassed Elson, the mother of his two children, over their divorce settlement.
“Wife fears for her and the children’s safety as a result of this harassment,” the court order cited by The Hollywood Reporter reads, adding that “this pattern of husband’s bullying wife into submission was a contributing factor in the demise of their marriage."
Reportedly, White wanted Elson to remove their children -- Scarlett, 7, and Henry Lee, 5 – from a class they shared with the child of a musician, whom White said “ripped off” his music. In the court filing, Elson stated that she was severely criticized by her former husband for attending the wedding of another musician, who according to White, “ripped off” his music.
The couple is currently engaged in a custody battle with White wanting to be involved in caring for his children, and Elson saying the singer is an unfit parent. And, during a February interview with The Hollywood Reporter, White had said he has been successful in spending quality time with his children, despite his busy work schedule.
"When you have kids, you think, 'Oh no, there's not gonna be any time for anything anymore.' And it's not true," White told The Hollywood Reporter. “When I go on tour and I come back, I still spend 10 times as much time with my children as I did with my family when I was growing up, and we were all living together with a 9-to-5 job. It's funny: There really is time for everything."
The couple got married in 2005, and after six years, they split up in 2011. They celebrated the demise of their marriage with a divorce party in Nashville where invitees were called upon to celebrate "their 6th anniversary and their upcoming divorce," according to reports.
