  • Jake Flint passed away hours after he married Brenda Flint Saturday, his publicist confirmed
  • The country singer reportedly died in his sleep

Jake Flint died just hours after his wedding. He was 37.

The "What's Your Name?" artist, who made a name for himself in the Oklahoma Red Dirt subgenre of country music, died in his sleep hours after he tied the knot with Brenda Flint Saturday, Us Weekly reported.

Flint's longtime publicist, Clif Doyal, confirmed his death to The Oklahoman Monday. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

"He was not only a client, he was a dear friend and just a super nice guy. As you can see from the outpouring on social media, he was loved by everybody. I think a lot of it was just that he was a people person, and he had an amazing sense of humor. He made everybody laugh, and he made everybody feel welcome," Doyal said in a statement. "He was an ambassador for Oklahoma Red Dirt music."

Flint's wife and now-widow expressed her grief over the loss of her husband in an emotional message posted via Facebook Tuesday.

"We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in," Brenda wrote. "People aren't meant to feel this much pain. My heart is gone and I just really need him to come back. I can't take much more. I need him here."

We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in. People aren't meant to feel this much pain. My heart is gone and I just really need him to...

Many social media users sent their love and prayers to Brenda as she mourns her husband.

"My heart hurts for you. I hope you find peace in the love ya'll shared. You are in my prayers. I'm so very sorry," one commented.

Another wrote, "Sending a big warm hug your way. I'm as lost as the rest of us and cannot express the sadness knowing what was supposed to be."

Norman-based one-man band Mike Hosty, who performed at Flint and Brenda's wedding, recounted the nuptials to The Oklahoman Monday.

According to Hosty, it was rainy, and he rented a 40-by-60 circus tent. They put up red carpets over the mud and got two pieces of three-and-a-quarter-inch plywood as the stage.

"Jake goes, 'Is that gonna be all right for you?' And I go, 'Jake, that's perfect.' A piece of plywood or a flatbed trailer is where I shine," Hosty said. "I still have the mud in my old van ... but it was just a fun wedding. And it's just a tragedy what happened."

He added of Flint, "He was a singer-songwriter, through and through, and just a big personality, a big heart, and (he'd) bend over backward to do anything for you. When any musician asks you to play at their wedding, it's one of those most important days ... and it's always an honor."
