Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, Cesaro, The Vaudevillains And More Confirmed For 'WWE 2K16'
Publisher 2K Games has unveiled 18 more superstars for the upcoming “WWE 2K16” video game as part of the official roster reveal. However, the company has also shown Jake “The Snake” Roberts and The Vaudevillains, three superstars who were technically not part of the official roster reveal but managed to make appearances through gameplay videos.
The Vaudevillains are the current NXT tag team champions and comprise Aiden English and Simon Gotch. Both superstars were revealed by IGN as it showcased the tag team entrance of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd. Despite only labeling Kidd and Cesaro’s entrance in the video, Gotch and English make their full entrance as well. The NXT team’s entrance has been fully replicated, complete with the boastful announcer and the old-school grainy look that the duo always comes out to.
Game Informer revealed Jake Roberts as an opponent for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin during a hands-on session with the title. Most wrestling fans know that Austin beat Roberts during the 1996 “King of the Ring” tournament where he cut his infamous “Austin 3:16” promo that made him a superstar to many. Now fans will be able to recreate that moment in the Showcase mode, as players will be required to defeat Jake Roberts in one of the first objectives in the mode.
The rest of the superstars confirmed for this week are making their return to the game after appearing in last year’s “WWE 2K15.” Alicia Fox, Bam Bam Bigelow, Big Show, Cameron, The Prime Time Players, Diamond Dallas Page, Dolph Ziggler, Finlay, Kevin Nash, Layla, Lex Luger, The Miz, Naomi, Randy Orton and Sheamus join the other superstars in the largest roster ever seen in a WWE game.
Most of the superstars have updated looks from their previous appearances, however. Sheamus now has his Mohawk hairstyle and Darren Young has his shorter hair and goatee.
“WWE 2K16” will be coming out on Oct. 27 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Fans who pre-order the game will gain access to two versions of the T-800 from the “Terminator” movies, which are modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger.
