Jamal Khashoggi's Body Parts Discovered In Saudi Consul General's Garden Well: Reports

The dismembered remains of missing Saudi Arabian journalist and Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi was found in the garden of the Saudi consul general's home in Istanbul, according to multiple reports.

Turkish Patriotic Party (VATAN) leader Dogu Perincek said the remains were discovered in a well in the residence of the Saudi consul general.

"Reliable sources from the Istanbul security service told me that the body of Khashoggi was found in a well, which is located in a garden in the residence of the Saudi consul general," Perincek told Sputnik News.

Sources told the Sky News that his body parts proved that the journalist had been "cut up" and his face "disfigured.”

The news of the discovery came a day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan demanded the Saudi authorities produce Khashoggi’s remains. "Why has the body of someone who was officially said to be killed not been found yet?" he said Tuesday.

Erdoğan also revealed further details about the investigation surrounding the journalist’s alleged murder.

According to the Turkish president, the hard drive of the surveillance camera outside the Saudi consulate was removed hours prior to the reported murder. Also, shortly before Khashoggi was scheduled to arrive at the consulate, 15 Saudi nationals, "intelligence, security and forensic" officials including generals, entered the building and left hours after, flying immediately back to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Erdoğan also said he did not buy into Saudi’s explanation that the journalist was killed by a rogue team and instead asked the kingdom to produce details pertaining to the "savage" and "planned" murder.

However, he refrained from referring to the audio of Khashoggi’s death that according to Turkish investigators, proved the fact that the latter was tortured before being killed. The audio evidence also allegedly indicated that Khashoggi’s fingers were shopped off prior to his death, carried out by a hit squad called the Firqat el-Nemr or Tiger Squad that was reportedly supervised by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Middle East Eye reported.

It was reported that the squad presented the future Saudi leader with Khashoggi’s fingers after returning to Riyadh. “MBS always said that he will cut off the fingers of every writer who criticizes him,” a source told the publication.
