  • Jameela Jamil opened up about her rare condition on TikTok
  • She was recently diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
  • The actress also opened up about feeling suicidal because of her haters

Jameela Jamil is spreading awareness about her rare condition despite people making fun of her health battle.

The actress spoke up about her health condition for the first time in a three-minute TikTok video she posted Tuesday. She shocked her followers as soon as she started pinching her cheeks and pulling her skin away from her mouth to show how elastic they had become.

Jamil explained that she was not using a filter at all, revealing that it was a symptom of her rare medical condition, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

"It pertains to my joints," she said while extending her arms. "As you can see, nothing bends the right way, everything bends the right and the wrong way. Yes, that is very sexy, thanks for asking."

The Ehlers-Danlos Society's official website indicated that EDS refers to a group of heritable connective tissue disorders: joint hypermobility, skin hyperextensibility and tissue fragility. The disease has 13 types; each has different and unique genetic causes.

Jamil did not detail what type of EDS she was suffering. But she already showed common symptoms EDS patients face, including pain, fatigue and hypermobility.

The 36-year-old "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" star discussed in the same video that her syndrome causes bleeding and bruising and can even affect delivering a baby. She also clarified she does not drink, do drugs, or smoke.

Her recent diagnosis became the latest issue she faced after suffering condemnation due to her health history. She got criticized for her health battles, including seizures, car accident injuries, mercury poisoning, cancers, and encounters with "killer bees."

Unfortunately, her personal battle reportedly attracted haters who made fun of her and her health problems.

"It made me suicidal for a while," Jamil captioned the same video she reposted on Instagram. "But they are just a bunch of ignorant a--holes which haven't a hundredth of our strength, they can't imagine surviving what we survive, so they choose to gaslight us about it all instead."

Despite that, the actress chose to shrug her haters and spread awareness instead. She reminded everyone that refusing to ignore symptoms could save someone's life. In the end, she asked her supporters to get checked.
