Jamie Lynn Spears Pays Tribute To Big Sis Britney In 'I Look Up To You' [VIDEO]
Jamie Lynn Spears paid tribute to her famous older sister, Britney Spears, with her new song I Look Up To You, a tune Jamie Lynn performed in public for the first time Thursday in Nashville, Tenn.
This next song is called 'I Look Up To You.' You could imagine who I wrote it about ... I hope you all like it a lot, Spears said before the performance, a video of which can be viewed below. The video has more than 11,000 views on YouTube, with nearly 500 likes.
The song speaks of Jamie Lynn Spears' love for sister Britney and her belief that Brit, who stars as a judge on The X Factor, was robbed of her childhood by growing up in the public eye.
They took away your innocence / But we've still got a strong defense / If I'd have conceived of this / I'd be lonely, Jamie Lynn Spears sings in the video. So whether you're a blue? sky smiling / Or whether you're a grey sky crying / I look up to you, I look up to you / Whether you're the sunlight shining down / Or you hide behind a cloud / I look up to you, I look up to you.
YouTube user OriginalMusicBaby is a fan of the song. This song is for Britney and I really think this girl sings? better than Britney, but she doesn't dominate the stage like brit, OriginalMusicBaby wrote. Anyway that's an amazing song.... and I agree with her They took away your innocence, brit.
Jamie Lynn has been out of the limelight, having gotten pregnant at age 17 with then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge. She is now 21 years old and raising her daughter Maddie as a single mom.
Jamie Lynn said Maddie is her first priority.
I've been on dates here and there, going to dinner or a movie, but nothing further than that. I'm a mother first. I have a little girl, and until I'm serious about someone, he's not going to be around her, she told E! in a February interview.
Jamie Lynn, who has roughly 370,000 Twitter followers, thanked her fans for showing up for her Nashville performance.
Thanks to everyone who came out tonight!! Sooo very appreciated!!, she tweeted.
