Jana Kramer Reveals Truth Behind Split With Husband Mike Caussin, Says He Cheated On Her
“Dancing With the Stars” Season 23 celebrity cast member Jana Kramer’s ex-husband, NFL player Mike Caussin, is reflecting on his behavior following their split in August.
The “One Tree Hill” alum, 32, separated from Caussin two months ago, and since then the football star has entered a rehabilitation center “for undisclosed reasons.” However, in the latest issue of People magazine, Kramer revealed that the reason for their split was because Caussin cheated on her.
“I was swept away by Mike,” Kramer told the publication. “Mike was the biggest of the betrayals because it was the first time in a relationship where I truly loved the version of me. I didn’t feel I had to prove that I was good enough, I was vulnerable and finally at peace with myself. But I was fooled.”
For his part, Caussin has apologized to Kramer for his actions and vowed to change himself for the better for the sake of the actress and their daughter, 9-month-old Jolie Rae. “I acknowledge that certain actions and behaviors have caused issues in my marriage and I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused Jana,” he told People. “I have and will continue to take the steps needed to change who I am as a person in order to be a better husband and father.”
Kramer and Caussin tied the knot in March last year. Prior to getting together with Caussin, Kramer was married to Michael Gambino in 2004, and then to actor Johnathan Schaech from 2010 to 2011. She was also briefly engaged to Brantley Gilbert in 2013.
Despite her string of failed marriages, Kramer doesn’t want to give up hope that she’ll find someone who will truly love her. “I am truly starting to figure out my worth,” she told the outlet. “My main problem, which is one reason why I’ve been in bad relationships, is that a family is all I want. It’s all I’ve dreamed of. I wanted to be loved and I wanted to love someone.”
Meanwhile, Kramer recently opened up about her ex-husband Gambino and the abuse she suffered in his hands during their brief relationship, Fox News reported. According to the singer-actress, she felt “protected” around Gambino at first, but this soon changed when they got married in 2004 after only two weeks of dating.
“He'd come home at 3 o'clock in the morning and pick me up out of bed, throw me onto the ground and start yelling and hitting,” she recalled. “Then the next morning he'd be like, 'Hey, baby,' as if nothing had happened.”
Kramer split with Gambino for good after he choked her until she fell unconscious and then left her bleeding out in front of their Los Angeles home. “I remember praying that night, ‘Please, just take me away, I don't want to be here anymore,’” she said of the incident. Gambino was then sentenced to six years in prison for attempted murder in 2005. He was released in 2010, but he committed suicide just two years later.
