‘Jane The Virgin’ Season 3 Spoilers: How Will Title Change Now That Jane's No Longer A Virgin?
“Jane the Virgin” Season 3, episode 3 really changed the whole course of the show after Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) and Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) had sex.
After losing her virginity to her husband, the title of the show is no longer applicable. Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told The Hollywood Reporter that they’re going to put interesting twists to the title week after week, depending on the storyline.
“We're keeping the title but with changes, like a line crossed through, like ‘Jane the Guilty Catholic,’” she explained.
Snyder added that it just felt like the right time for Jane to lose her virginity. “We put her through enough and we pulled as many frustrating stories about the fact that she's a mom and now married and still a virgin,” she said. “I just felt like now was the time. I didn’t have any drama or comedy left in that device.”
Earlier, Snyder told Vulture that they wanted Jane to have a “realistic” sex experience, so they made her fake her orgasm just to please Michael. “The show tries to live in that space between fantasy and reality. So you wanted to see what Jane expected of it and then what really happens and then find her version of a happy ending within a more realistic context,” she said.
In the end, Jane came clean about it. Even though Michael was disappointed, he and Jane talked things through and had a more successful go afterwards.
As for Rodriguez, she shared with Entertainment Weekly that fans will see a different side of Jane now that she has lost her virginity. She said that losing it is “going to play into her life, her psychology, how she views herself and how she views her intimacy.”
“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 airs every Monday at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
