‘Jane The Virgin’ Star Jaime Camil To Voice Monster In Augmented Reality
Jaime Camil delightfully charms as telenovela star Rogelio de la Vega in “Jane the Virgin,” but the actor is going to extend his charms by voicing a Spanish-speaking monster called Mo in an augmented reality game.
According to Variety, Camil will take part in the Osmo franchise of games called “Monster en Español.” It is the latest game which will use the iPad and iPhone’s front-facing camera as a way to combine action on the screen and physical play time. The game encourages kids to draw objects with pen and paper then makes their drawings come alive in the hands of Mo.
Camil said he was actually the one who first came across Osmo when he saw an ad on Disney channel. “I bought the device for my kids, and it was amazing,” he said.
Camil was so impressed with the game that he bought 10 more Osmo units to give away to nieces, nephews and friends with families. He even gave a shout-out to Osmo on social media. “I am shameless,” he said.
Osmo happily responded, and they later came up with the idea of letting Camil voice Mo in Spanish.
Osmo’s “Monster en Español” will be released for $49 on Nov. 13.
Meanwhile, Camil’s character Rogelio is busy being a dad in the fourth season of “Jane the Virgin.” He and his ex-girlfriend Darci Factor (Justina Mechado) decided to name their daughter Baby Michaelina, which is a tribute to his daughter’s late husband, Michael Cordero (Brett Dier).
For now, Rogelio and Darci are getting along well. Show creator Jennie Snyder Urman told Entertainment Weekly their relationship actually “has a lot of twists and turns and it’s one of the arcs that I’m most excited about.”
Rogelio’s wife Xo (Andrea Navedo) does not want to become a mom again, but she is doing her best to be supportive of Rogelio’s desire to become a good co-parent. In fact, it is because of her constant encouragement that Rogelio buried his grudge against Darci and managed to become friends with her.
“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 will return on Oct. 13. at 9 p.m. EST.
