‘Jane The Virgin’ Star Justin Baldoni On Creating ‘New Race Of Men’
“Jane the Virgin” star Justin Baldoni has always been a supporter of female empowerment, so this time, he is putting his words into action as he launches his new weekly talk show called “Man Enough.”
Baldoni revealed during an interview with the storytelling platform MAKERS that his new series, which will debut on Nov. 28, will be “a weekly dinner party captured on camera” that will explore and challenge “what it means to be a man today.”
According to PEOPLE, some of the talk show’s guests would include “Dancing With the Stars” alum Derek Hough, “Hamilton” star Javier Muñoz and transgender activist Aydian Dowling, among many others.
“You’re not going to have an awakening of a billion men that are suddenly going to wake up and everyone is going to be a feminist,” Baldoni said during the interview. “What you can do is create a new race of men that are aware of their actions that are respecting women in a new way.”
“[It’s] just a deep responsibility to let her have a role model of a dad that empowers her to believe that anything is possible,” he continued. “And that she can do anything that anybody else can do regardless of whether or not she’s a woman.”
Baldoni is actually in cloud nine these days because he and his wife, Emily, just welcomed their son, Maxwell Roland-Samuel Baldoni, on Oct. 18. The baby measured 21½ inches in length and weighed 8 lbs., 7 oz.
“Our little Maxwell Roland-Samuel Baldoni came into this world on Wednesday and showed us that it was possible for our hearts to double in size … again,” the couple said in a statement. “Maiya is so excited to have a baby brother and is already helping change his diapers and giving him tons of kisses. We want to thank everyone for all the love and prayers. We are so grateful.”
The Baldonis already have a two-year-old girl named Maiya, and the “Jane the Virgin” actor is working hard to change people’s minds about female equality and masculinity in order to create a better world for his children.
