The latter, on the other hand, was the lead of Linkin Park. Leto’s lengthy tribute was posted on his Twitter account, and it revealed some of his best memories with his good friend. Leto added that Bennington has taught him so much about life and that his thoughts and heart go out to the singer’s friends and family whom he left behind.

Bennington passed away on Thursday, July 20, due to apparent suicide by hanging. According to The Hollywood Reporter, law enforcement received a call around 9 a.m. reporting Bennington’s death. A day later, spokesman for the coroner’s office, Ed Winter, confirmed that the singer hanged himself. An autopsy is still pending, and no timeframe was given for the results of the report.
Meanwhile, Bennington had always been open about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. In 2016, he spoke with The Pulse of Radio to share some details about his battle. “I was on 11 hits of acid a day. I dropped so much acid and I’m surprised I can still speak! I’d smoke a bunch of crack, do a bit of meth and just sit there and freak out. Then I’d smoke opium to come down. I weighed 110 pounds. My mom said I looked like I stepped out of Auschwitz. So I used pot to get off drugs,” he said.
Bennington also revealed that he received a wake-up call from the people closest to him who told him that it was like they were dealing with two people. Whenever he was doing drugs and drinking alcohol, it was like they were talking to a man other than the singer himself. “I didn’t want to be that guy,” he said.
As of late, details about Bennington’s wake have not yet been released.
