Jason Aldean Cancels Upcoming Concerts, How To Get A Refund
Country singer Jason Aldean has announced that he will be canceling a few of his upcoming tour dates in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday at the Route 91 Harvest Festival where he was performing.
“As a result of what happened in Las Vegas this week, we have decided to cancel this upcoming weekend’s shows,” Aldean, 40, wrote on Twitter on Tuesday about three of his upcoming shows.
Currently on his “They Don't Know Tour,” Aldean is canceling his shows in Los Angeles on Oct. 6, San Diego on Oct. 7 and Anaheim on Oct. 8 after the mass shooting at the three-day country-music festival left 59 dead and hundreds more injured. Aldean was on stage performing his song “When She Says Baby” when the shooter, Stephen Paddock, began opening fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino into the event.
“I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do,” Aldean said about canceling some his upcoming shows. “It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends.”
Since the attack, Aldean has been posting to social media to keep his fans apprised on his safety, his thoughts and emotions and any news he has to share in the aftermath, like tour date cancelations.
Shortly after the shooting occurred, after the singer had a few moments to try to collect his thoughts the best he could, he let everyone know that he and his crew were safe.
“Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that me and my crew are safe,” he wrote on his Instagram. “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night.”
Though Aldean has chosen to cancel some his concerts, he still plans on getting back on the road shortly.
“Our plan is to resume the tour the following week in Tulsa, Oklahoma,” Aldean continued in his Tuesday Twitter post. “Our first time back onstage will be a very tough and emotional thing for us, but we will all get through it together and honor the people we lost by doing the only thing we know how to do — play our songs for them. I hope everyone understands why we can’t play this weekend and I’m sorry if anyone is disappointed.”
The country star finished off his announcement by thanking his friends and fans for “the outpouring of love” he’s received this week.
Ticketholders for one of his canceled shows (Los Angeles, San Diego and Anaheim) are able to get refunds at the point of purchase. Those who were chosen to attend a Meet & Greet at one of these concerts will have the chance to use it at a show next year and can reach out to the singer’s support team to help set it up.
Aldean will pick his tour back up at the Tulsa show on Oct. 12.
Besides Aldean, Jennifer Lopez has also decided to make some changes to her upcoming concerts. She will be postponing her next three shows at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, according to E! News.
“Jennifer is heartbroken that such a senseless tragedy occurred,” her rep said told E! News in a statement. “Her thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
Those with tickets to these shows will be contacted and able to receive refunds or exchanges for another “Jennifer Lopez: All I Have” show.
