"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring," the post began.

"And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty," it read.

"The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other ~to be who we are learning to become…"

The "Aquaman" star noted that they hope to set a good example for their children: daughter Lola, 14, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 13. "Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children," the post continued. "Teaching our Children What’s possible ~ Living the Prayer."

The statement concluded, "May Love Prevail ✨ J & L."

Along with the statement, Momoa shared several photos in his post, including one of a sunset sky, a person holding a baby bird and wearing a shirt that reads "May my soul shout love", and another close-up of the hands holding the bird, adds People.

Momoa and Bonet started dating in 2005 after being introduced to each other at a jazz club. The pair welcomed their first child, Lola, in July 2007 and their second one, Nakoa-Wolf in December 2008.

It was initially believed that the couple tied the knot in 2007, but they actually had a secret wedding in October 2017.

Momoa once revealed that he was smitten by Bonet from when he saw her on “The Cosby Show.”

“Ever since I was 8 years old — I saw her on TV and I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one. I was like, ‘I’m gonna stalk you for the rest of my life and I’m gonna get you,’” he joked to James Corden on “The Late Late Show” in November 2017, per Page Six.

In another interview, the "Game of Thrones" actor revealed that he did not tell Bonet about how he was smitten by her. “[She was] literally my childhood crush. I mean, I didn’t tell her that. I didn’t let her know I was a stalker until after we had the kids,” he told Esquire in 2019.

During the same interview, he said being married to Bonet gave him confidence in his acting career. “If someone says something isn’t possible, I’m like, ‘Listen here, I married Lisa Bonet. Anything is f–king possible,'” he shared at the time.

This was Momoa's first marriage and Bonet' second, as she was married to rockstar Lenny Kravitz from 1987 to 1993. They share daughter Zoë Isabella Kravitz together.
