Jay Cutler, Jana Kramer Split: Kristin Cavallari Played A Role In Breakup – Report

Jay Cutler decided to end his brief romance with Jana Kramer because his plan to make his ex-wife Kristin Cavallari jealous didn't work, reports have claimed.

Cutler, 38, and Kramer, 37, are no longer dating after the former pro football player "broke it off" with the actress following a few dates, E! News reported.

"Kristin wasn’t jealous, to begin with," an unnamed source told Us Weekly after Cutler and Kramer called off their whirlwind romance

The insider continued, "The real reason [they broke up] is because he didn’t succeed at making Kristin jealous. He took Jana to the most public places for their dates, knowing they would be photographed together and would get attention from being out in Nashville, but it never worked."

E! News also learned from its source that Cutler started courting Kramer, who recently separated from Mike Caussin, "to get under Kristin's skin." But according to the insider, "it didn't work, so he broke it off. They went out all over Nashville and Kristin didn't care. That's it."

Kramer was Cutler's first relationship since he and the "Laguna Beach" alum called it quits in 2020. The former couple was married for nearly seven years and share three children together.

It was reported last month that Cavallari has moved on with country star Chase Rice, 35.

Sources told People at the time that Cutler "was not happy she's dating Chase and has been trying to get Kristin back."

Prior to reports of Cavallari having a new beau, Cutler and Kramer were spotted dining at Bourbon Steak and grabbing drinks at Nashville, Tennessee, hotspot L.A. Jackson.

An insider claimed to Us Weekly at the time, "Jay was trying to make Kristin jealous, but Kristin has told friends it isn’t going to work. It’s not a coincidence that Jay decided to go public with Jana right after news broke that Kristin and Chase Rice are dating."

Cutler and Kramer were last spotted together publicly at the VIP opening of the 400-seat Supper Club on the top floor of The Twelve Thirty Club in Nashville on Sept. 22. An eyewitness told Us Weekly that the former couple arrived for the event together and "acted like a couple the whole time."

Cutler and Kramer also "spent time a lot of time" with Jessie James Decker and Eric Decker at Justin Timberlake and Sam Fox's restaurant, which opened to the public on Sept. 28, the eyewitness added.

The former NFL quarterback previously admitted that he was struggling with being single.

"It's hard as hell really," he said on the "Uncut With Jay Cutler" podcast. "Meeting people is hard. I think finding out what people really want from you; I think that's probably an issue. I'm at a different phase of my life now with kids. Priorities have changed. It isn't just a purely selfish play by my part."
