Jennie Garth Talks Weight Loss Secrets & Peter Facinelli Split
Even glamorous celebrities like Jennie Garth struggle with their weight.
Garth, the former "Beverly Hills 90210" actress, had a rough patch at the beginning of 2012, but she was able to turn it around and lost an impressive 30 pounds.
The feat wasn’t easy for the 5-foot-5 Garth, but she sat down with Health magazine for its January/February issue to discuss how she won the “battle of the bulge” after years of fad diets.
"Every day, I just renew my healthy choices," the 40-year-old actress told the magazine. "I feel really good about myself now, and I don't want to do anything to change that."
Garth, a mother of three, explained her struggle with trying to lose weight in the past:
"My biggest regret is putting my body through fad diets: Atkins, cleanses, the hCG diet. I lost like 18 pounds, but it came right back," she admitted. "The worst was fasting with colonics for three or four days. It was the most horrifying experience ever!"
Conquering her weight wasn’t the only struggle Garth faced. She also opened up about her March 2012 split from her husband of 11 years, “Twilight’s” Peter Facinelli.
"When I'm in excruciating pain, like with what I've been through with my breakup and that grief and loss that's just immobilizing, it helps to remember that it only lasts for 13 to 15 minutes, max. And then it's over," Us Weekly quoted the actress as saying.
"Your mind is ready to go to something else. You might come back to it, but it helps to just know that that pain is not going to last forever:"
According to Us Weekly, Garth has been seen casually dating since her split from Facinelli. She has been linked to HGTV star Antonio Ballatore, photographer Noah Abrams and Jones Lang LaSalle managing director Jason Clark.
"I'm learning to date again," Garth told Health. "Looks aren't important to me anymore. I like positive energy."
