Jennifer Lopez has shared her "biggest heartbreak," and it was when she and Ben Affleck called it quits almost two decades ago.
The 53-year-old actress got candid about the "painful" end of her romance with the 50-year-old actor back in 2004 in an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, published on YouTube Monday.
According to the "Hustlers" actress, she felt like she was "going to die" when she and her "Gigli" co-star decided to part ways despite already being engaged to be married.
"Twenty years ago, I fell in love with the love of my life," she was quoted as saying by Us Weekly. "It was so painful after we broke up. Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life."
She continued, "I honestly felt like I was going to die. It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn't get it right."
But as fate would have it, the two Hollywood stars found their way back to each other's arms again last year. Lopez and Affleck quickly made the headlines when they were spotted together for the first time in over a decade in April 2021, according to People.
Their rekindled romance got serious so fast that the two celebrities decided to tie the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on July 16. A month later, they got married again at a grand three-day affair at the actor's estate in Georgia.
In her recent interview, Lopez happily shared that she's finally found her "happy ending" with Affleck.
"It has the most would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending. [A] 'that would never happen. We're not going to write that because nobody would believe it' ending," she said.
Last week, the couple celebrated their first Thanksgiving together as husband and wife. The singer-actress proudly posted photos and clips of their blended family on her Instagram.
"This is ... Thanksgiving Holiday #ThisIsMeNow #PhotoDump #Family," she captioned her post, referencing her upcoming album "This Is Me... Now," her first major record in eight years that will come out sometime next year.
