Jeremy Renner Takes On 'The Bourne Legacy': Five Things You May Not Know About Him
With "The Bourne Legacy" set to hit theaters this Friday, Jeremy Renner is poised for yet another box office smash. After Oscar nominated roles in "The Town" and "The Hurt Locker," Renner has proven to be a rare combination of talent and bankability.
So far this year he has appeared in high octane hits like "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and "The Avengers."
Next up, the heartthrob will star in "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters as a grown Gretel who viciously tracks down the evil witch from his childhood.
Here are five things you may not know about Renner.
He Costarred With Pink:
In 2003 Renner appeared in Pink's music video for her song "Trouble." The actor portrayed a sexy sheriff in the old west.
He's A Musician:
Since high school, Renner has demonstrated musical skills. A drummer until his early 20's, the 41-year-old currently writes and producers songs on both piano and guitar. He's also proven to have considerable vocal chops. The actor sang "American Pie" in the film 2006 film "Love Comes to the Executioner."
"I started as a young man, as a drummer, then moved to guitar, and piano so I could song-write," he hold Interview magazine in 2009. "I was always a singer. But I was always focused on being an actor as my trade. Music I do just for me. The movie business is very difficult but the music business is just impossible. So I'll play in bands and record and play songs with other people, but for me it's a form of expression that all I need is me. I don't need cameras or agents, I can just have a piano and sing and feel totally verified."
Colin Farrell Recalls Spooning With Him:
During the 2010 Oscars, Colin Farrell has admitted to spooning with Renner while filming "SWAT" in 2003.
"We shared a bed," said Farrell, "and a pillow! And before any rumors start, we were only spooning!"
He Was A Makeup Artist
While promoting "The Avengers" back in April, the actor revealed that he once worked as a makeup artist.
"[I was] a makeup artist," he told Access Hollywood. "I could do makeup because I did theater... I couple paint and I could draw, so I'm like, 'OK, I'll do makeup on girls all day... It bought me a lot of free time to go audition when I needed to because I only had to work a few hours a week. I didn't have to wait tables, so it was actually a great gig."
Playing A Serial Killer Affected His Dating Life
After playing Jeffrey Dahmer in the 2002 film "Dahmer," Renner found it considerably hard to get a date. The role required him to get into the mindset of the notorious serial killer, who brutally murdered 17 men and boys in the late 80's and early 90's. Following the production, the actor claims his luck took a turn for the worst.
"After I did the film, playing a guy who was basically a monster, things started getting creepy," he told Parade in 2009. "My cat was stolen. Then some girl bit me in a bar because I wasn't paying attention to her anymore and I had to go to the hospital. It kept me single for a while, that's for sure. Lot of people I wanted to date, but people I probably shouldn't date."
"The Bourne Legacy" opens Friday.
