Jeremy Vuolo Was ‘Interrogated’ By Duggar Family Before Proposing To Jinger, Pastor Reveals
Jeremy Vuolo had to go through Jinger Duggar’s family before asking for her hand in marriage. The former professional athlete turned pastor admits he was “interrogated” by his devout future in-laws before proposing to the TLC reality star last month.
After several months of courtship, Jeremy popped the question to Jinger on a New York City rooftop on July 25, an event which Jinger recalls as “beautiful.”
“He had someone playing a favorite song. I walked out and he dropped down on one knee. I was caught off guard,” the 22-year-old bride-to-be says in Us Weekly’s Aug. 29 print issue. Jeremy, 28, revealed it took a month for him to plan the elaborate proposal, but he had to jump through a few others hurdles first.
“They have to do their due diligence,” Jeremy said, confirming he was “interrogated” by his future family members. “They asked me the questions. They try and prank me at times too. One time Jinger spared me from a prank, which I’m grateful for.”
Despite being put to the test, the former soccer star appears to be on good terms with Jinger’s loved ones. Jeremy used her dad Jim Bob Duggar and brother-in-law Ben Seewald’s help to pick out the perfect engagement ring. “When I saw it, I immediately knew,” Jeremy said of Jinger’s .75-carat ring. “It was important for me to bring Mr. Duggar and Ben to confirm what I felt was best for Jinger. It was a unanimous decision.”
While Jinger and Jeremy have not yet set a date for their small, indoor wedding, they do have their post-nuptial plans settled. Jinger, a lifelong Arkansas resident, will move to Laredo, Texas, to be with Jeremy. There, the couple will focus on ministry and, of course, having babies.
“We haven’t talked about family size but I know we both love children,” Jeremy said. “We’ll have to see what the Lord provides.”
Duggar fans can follow Jinger and Jeremy’s relationship on Season 2 of TLC’s “Jill & Jessa: Counting On,” which returns Aug. 23.
