Jerry Hall Shows Off Mega-Carat Diamond Ring From Fiance Rupert Murdoch
Jerry Hall showed off her new mega-carat bling while out and about in London last week. The 59-year-old former model is engaged to 84-year-old media baron Rupert Murdoch. She gave a glimpse of her big diamond ring during the outing.
Murdoch reportedly shelled out 2.4 million British pounds ($3.44 million) for the ring. It is not clear from the initial pictures, but Murdoch seemed to have chosen an unusually shaped marquise diamond set on a simple platinum band. However, it is not huge as Mariah Carey’s huge 35-carat rock was.
Earlier in the day her billionaire fiance was spotted driving away from her house in a Range Rover. This is the first time the Texas model has been spotted with the diamond ring. She was wrapped up in a brown jacket with a matching fur collar; her blonde hair was left loose while she protected her eyes from the sun with a pair of black glares.
On Monday, however, Jerry kept her bling hidden inside the palm of her hand to avoid being photographed.
The couple announced their engagement earlier this month. Murdoch and Hall walked the red carpet together at the Golden Globes as a couple on Jan. 10. Soon after the awards, the couple got engaged over the weekend.
The announcement was made via a post on the Births, Marriages and Deaths page of The Times, which is owned by Murdoch’s News Corporation. The couple had a whirlwind romance of four months before getting engaged.
Jerry has four children with Rolling Stones frontman Mike Jagger. She and Jagger were married in a Hindu ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, but the court annulled their marriage, which was not considered to be legal. They were a couple from 1977 to 1999. The former couple have four children together -- Elizabeth, 31, James, 30, Georgia May, 23, and Gabriel, 19.
Murdoch has been married four times and has six children.
