  • Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was arrested Thursday on charges of intimate partner violence with injury, police said
  • The "Jersey Shore" star remains behind bars
  • The new domestic violence allegations do not involve his ex-girlfriend, Jen Harley, a report said

“Jersey Shore” star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was arrested Thursday on charges of intimate partner violence with injury, the Los Angeles Police Department has said.

Ortiz-Magro, 35, was arrested in the coastal Playa del Rey section of Los Angeles, officer William Cooper told USA Today. He is still in jail, E! News reported.

"We have just learned of the new allegations against Ronnie and need some additional time to further investigate. As such, we will not be making any other statements at this time," his attorneys, Scott E. Leemon and Leonard Levin, told the two outlets in a statement.

Ortiz-Magro was also arrested in 2019 for a separate domestic violence case. The MTV reality star was still on probation for that case, which involved his ex-girlfriend, Jen Harley, when he was recently arrested.

An unnamed source close to Ortiz-Magro told E! News that Harley, with whom he shares 3-year-old daughter Ariana Sky Magro, was not involved in the latest alleged incident.

In May 2020, Ortiz-Magro was given 36 months of probation after reaching an agreement and pleading no contest to one count of domestic battery and one count of resisting arrest, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said in a statement to E! News.

The reality personality and his ex's turmoil reached a boiling point in October 2019 when a 911 call was placed regarding a battery incident. Authorities confirmed that they used a Taser on the reality star during the arrest over alleged felony domestic violence and kidnapping.

Ortiz-Magro was charged with domestic violence, brandishing a weapon, child endangerment, false imprisonment [of Harley], resisting arrest and making criminal threats. He was ordered to complete 30 days of community labor in Nevada, donate $20,000 to an L.A.-based women's shelter and complete a 52-week violence program at a court-approved agency.

Months prior to his arrest, Ortiz-Magro also filed a domestic battery report against Harley over a brawl that took place in Las Vegas. She was arrested, but the charges were dropped six months later due to insufficient evidence.

In November 2020, Ortiz-Magro gushed over his new romance with Saffire Matos. According to him, their relationship encountered challenges during the pandemic, but they overcame it.

"She’s special to me. I met her back in February and we talked for, you know, for four or five months and we really did have a strong connection and bond," he told Us Weekly. "We kind of rekindled things right before I went back to film with the guys. And you know, it’s different for me because I found someone that adds to my happiness."
