Jessa Seewald Wants To Give Baby Quincy A Sibling; Duggar Daughter Shares Updated Adoption Plans

Jessa and Ben Seewald anticipate welcoming their first child in a matter of days, but they are already thinking about expanding their family. Ahead of Jessa’s Nov. 2 due date, the former “19 Kids and Counting” star is speaking out about her updated adoption plans.

Jessa and Ben have expressed their desire to adopt since announcing their engagement in August 2014. And while the couple is thrilled about the impending arrival of their baby next month, Jessa revealed on the Duggar Family Blog that she and Ben are still looking into adoption. “[Adoption] is definitely something that is very dear to our heart,” said Jessa, 22. “As Christians, adoption is such a beautiful picture and reminder of God’s love for us in adopting us into His family.”

Jessa said she and Ben, 20, have been studying up on adoption during the past few months and plan to pursue the idea more in the coming year. The couple previously put their adoption plans on hold after learning that Arkansas state law required a couple to be married for two years before they are able to adopt.

“We have been so blessed to be able to talk with other adoptive families, to hear their stories and learn from their personal journeys,” Jessa said. “Since we are soon to have a baby of our own, things are on hold for a time. But we plan within this next year to take some adoption classes and begin working towards this goal.”

While welcoming a sibling for her unborn child may be on her mind, Jessa shared a baby update with her fans Thursday, a bit more than a week before her due date. “Sitting here dreaming about the moment when we meet our little one face-to-face,” Jessa wrote. “Wondering if our baby will carry more Seewald or Duggar characteristics and features. I’m thinking #BabySeewald will be a sweet mix of the two of us!” Her post was accompanied by a composite shot of her and Ben as babies and a new ultrasound image.

Jessa’s due date coincides with the couple’s one-year wedding anniversary. They have not announced the gender of their baby, who they have nicknamed Quincy.

Duggar fans can watch Jessa’s baby journey on “Jill & Jessa: Counting On.” The show will premiere on TLC in December. Check out a promo video for the coming episodes below:
